The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Living Well workshops help employees throughout metro Atlanta learn how to better manage chronic diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes. A workshop also offers help to caregivers, providing tools and support for people who are taking care of loved ones.
Developed by Stanford University, each of the three, six-week workshops utilizes tested, research-based methods that have proven to reduce absenteeism, health care costs and workers’ comp and disability claims.
Living Well Workshops are provided on-site to businesses and organizations throughout the Atlanta region. The workshops are an affordable and powerful component of any employee wellness program.
The workshops offered are:
- Healthy Changes for Living with Chronic Disease – This six-week workshop teaches individuals how to cope with ongoing health conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and high blood pressure. Participants learn how to work with doctors, manage symptoms, set realistic goals and embrace relaxation techniques and healthy eating habits. Cost: $1,600 for up to 16 employees.
- Healthy Changes for Living with Diabetes – This six-week workshop helps individuals understand the symptoms and associated complications of diabetes and the importance of medication adherence and the control of sugar levels. Participants will also learn tips for maintaining a healthy weight and techniques for managing anxiety, stress and frustration. Cost: $1,600 for up to 16 employees.
- Powerful Tools for Caregivers – This six-week program helps caregivers learn to reduce their stress levels, communicate their needs to family members and make tough caregiving decisions. Cost: $1,600 for up to 16 employees.
